A bit about myself in the early days, the days when I was searching for success.
I was an achiever in school. I graduated with a First Class Honours and Accelerated Masters Degree.
I was invited to join a startup by a Professor. I agreed immediately because I wanted to learn how to start a business.
The company was mostly made up of fresh graduates, aka nerds. I was probably the only fresh graduate who was good in selling, hence I was always the one giving presentations.
One day, I was on a business trip to Melbourne to present the company’s new technology.
It was my first business trip.
At the airport, feeling proud and successful, I walked into a book store. That’s what you would imagine successful people do, right?
To be honest, I had never read a self-help book before that.
The only type of book I read was textbook.
At the book store in the airport, I picked up a book called ‘The Cashflow Quadrant‘ by Robert Kiyosaki.
I read the first few pages and was immediately glued to the book.
I bought it eventually so that I could continue reading in the plane.
That was the start of my journey to financial freedom!
For those who haven’t read the book, the book says that the ways people makes money can be divided into 4 quadrants:

To have time and financial freedom, one has to get into the ‘B’ and ‘I’ quadrants.
This concept was an eye-opener for me.
I told myself that one day, I want to be in the ‘B’ and ‘I’ quadrants.
It also introduced me to the idea of time and financial freedom, which later became my life goal.
The book was written when the idea of online business was still in its infancy, so most of the references to the ‘B’ quadrant were traditional businesses.
In the brick and mortar world, it can take you a long time and a lot of effort to build a business up to a point when it can be run by professional management, so that you can free yourself from the operation.
Sad to say, many medium-sized business owners have never achieved time freedom.
But times have changed.
You can now run an online business and achieve time freedom in a matter of months.
Having time freedom doesn’t mean you don’t have to work.
It just means you can work anytime and anywhere you like, if you choose to.
I think I’ve achieved time freedom.
It took me about 10 years.
It won’t happen overnight, but if you keep this idea in mind and keep on working towards it, it will be achieved.
