Many people had a lucky break in their life. Me too.
Back in 2008 when I was about to launch LeadsLeap, I suddenly got a call from Ewen Chia asking me to meet up for coffee.
Ewen was one of the top affiliate marketers at that time. He was also my client in another online business.
I was thrilled.
During the coffee session, I introduced LeadsLeap to him, trying to convince him to promote.
But he wasn’t interested.
Instead, he connected me with a JV broker called Mike Merz from jvnotifypro.com.
A JV broker is someone who has a good network of super affiliates. If he promotes your product in his network, hundreds of super affiliates will know about your product and they may promote to their lists.
I created a special deal for Mike and wrote him an email. I still remembered Mike’s reply was something like this, “My schedule is full. But since you are recommended by Ewen and your business model looks interesting, I will add it in.”
I was overly excited when I saw his reply.
At the prelaunch phase, LeadsLeap managed to get over 200 marketers to get on board for the official launch. Not a lot? Bear in mind that many of them were super affiliates with a huge list.
At the official launch, LeadsLeap enrolled more than 5000 members in the first month and it continued to grow into what it is today.
That was the lucky break in my life.
The big question is, how can we have our lucky break?
The answer is in the formula below:
Luck = Opportunity x Preparation
Opportunities are everywhere and plenty, but beyond our control. What we can control is Preparation.
I had an opportunity to meet Ewen for coffee. But if I wasn’t prepared, i.e. I didn’t have LeadsLeap ready, I would not have my lucky break.
From the formula above, you can see that if Preparation = 0, Luck = 0 regardless of how many opportunities there are.
As I said, opportunities are plenty. To have your lucky break, you simply have to prepare yourself.
How do you prepare yourself?
Simple.
Massive learning and massive action. That’s the best way to get yourself prepared. When you are prepared, your lucky break will come.
