I started exploring internet marketing in 2004 because I need an alternative to my brick and mortar business.
Like many people, I bought ebooks and signed up tons of newsletters. I also tried to create a website myself but it didn’t make me a cent.
Then in 2004, I bought a complete site building package that cost $299.
It was a complete system that guided me from content creation, website building to search engine optimization.
Imagine every piece of content that you upload to your website had to be scrutinized by their system to make sure that the content was search engine optimized. That’s how strict and specific the system was.
It was a good training for me. It forced me to do the right thing, otherwise, it won’t let me upload the file!
After one month of hard work, I finally got the website up and running.
The website taught people about the power of the subconscious mind, which was my favorite topic at that time.
For the rest of the year, I did almost nothing to the website.
Surprisingly, after 1 year, I realized that I had made about $500 from Adsense and affiliated product sales.
At that time, I asked myself, if I could make that amount of money without doing much, what if I put more time to into it?
I bought an autoresponder script and learned how to upload it to the server.
I also wrote a series of newsletters. But instead of sending the newsletter directly into the subscribers’ email, I sent them a link. To read the newsletter, they had to go to my website.
My purpose?
Every online newsletter came with Adsense ads. As they read the newsletter, they may click the ads too.
I also created an MP3 product on how to unleash the power of the subconscious mind and intended to sell it for $37.
I bought an affiliate script and started an affiliate program for this product.
By the end of 2005, the website was consistently making about $400 a month from Adsense and product sales. Not a lot of money, but not bad for a start.
If you are new to internet marketing, I strongly advice you to get some sort of blueprint and follow it to a tee. This will force you to go through a complete internet marketing process at least once.
Had I not spent $299 on the site building package and followed the detailed guide closely, I might never get my first website done correctly.
